Sold the mustang today! New owner is a huge ford guy who’s owned countless fox bodies and wanted a project with his son. Made about $1000 profit! Next I’m thinking Pontiac Solstice...

Want another flip challenge? Try a first gen ram! Seriously, parts are easy, people love trucks and you can get them cheapish.

in what way? I’ve always been surprised at how much they are, not that they’re not worth it.

Nice! I’m hoping to sell my VW tomorrow. That’ll pay for putting a hitch on my E90. And a few other things

Knew you would have no issues selling it in this market. However, buying a reasonable next project will be the issue, it’s a sellers market right now.

Not a bad profit, and not a bad deal for the buyer either! Win-win!

Congrats! You really saved that car.

Congrats.
Best profit I had on a car, $1700, was an 1997 Mustang GT c onvertible, 5 speed .

I thought that was gone a few weeks ago?

I listed it about two weeks ago. Had a BUNCH of interest, including a friend of a friend who came and looked at it the frist day, and a guy in MN that wanted to come look at it ASAP. Then I couldn’t find the title so I had to order a new one.
When I had the title in hand the friend of a a friend said he had the money and wanted to come pick it up. ... then I didn’t hear from him, for a week. So last night I texted him and said I was going to re-list it if he didn’t want it and he told me his Mom said he couldn’t have anymore cars. Teenage boys are the worst.
So I contacted the other interested guy and he came and got it this morning. Very nice guy, who is probably way in over his head project wise, but I like is attitude.

Title issues suck. Impossible to get another issued in Ohio without the original (wrote buyer info wrong or something) or a court order.
I’m glad someone ambitious bought it. Fun cars.

Sold the same car. It was Rio red with saddle interior. I only made about $500 for way too much work into it. The rest of the profit came from how fun that car was to drive with the top down. Drove from S o C al to Joshua Tree and then a different trip to Laughlin. Both trips with the top down!

Bought it really right. T op was fairly new, but inst alled incorrectly. Rear window shattered. Evaporative ca nister solenoid was causing a CEL and tires were hardened due to age so they lacked any sort of real grip.

I had an Oppo sticker on the car. I’m hoping he turns up here

In this photo, you can see that the top had been installed too far forward. It is most ev ident where it looks pinched at the black trim and rear quarter window. The glass would press against the top bow when retracting, even tually causing it to shatter.

Nice ride. Here is mine. Installed wheels and 99-04 front brakes to upgrade. Bought the car for 700 with an engine noise. Turned out the previous mechanic dropped a hose clamp into the intake manifold, which caused the noise. Fortunately no cylinder wall or extreme piston damage occurred. Sold it for $3,200 and I miss that car. Would like to get a 98 Atlantic blue Cobra vert some day.

I took my Cabby for a quick rip before work this morning. Hadn’t driven it in maybe a week and a half, but it f
ired right up on the first pulse of the starter. I forgot how little grip that car had. Slid around every corner gracefully. Love that car.

I’m going to miss mine for sure. But the XT250 makes up for it

I’m always conflicted about selling a whole vehicle for a little work on another...I sold my Grom for 2k, and it barely covered half of the work I put into the 1502 lol. Still I wasn’t using the grom.

Beautifu l car. You got it for a bargain, all things considered, it was far less costly to repair than initially thought.
An Atlantic Blue Cobra is a good looking car, it is also the lowest production color. Ford Performance shows the car and numbers here:
https://performance.ford.com/enthusiasts/collector-vehicles/svt/mustang-cobra/1998.html
I would absolutely love to have a Teal 1993 Cobra. There is an immaculate one a dealer about an hour from me, but the price is over the top. Check it out here:

It is 50% more than this similar one that sold on BAT last year:

I was looking at at 93 Cobras back in 2004-2005. I remember them selling for around 8-10k back then. I also remember looking at a 98 Atlantic blue Cobra around that time frame. I couldn’t afford either of them back then, so I bought the next best thing. A 199 3 Calypso green 5 speed LX hatch, which I still have to this day . Deciding factor was that insurance for a 21 year old male was appreciably less for a 93 LX than it was for a 94 GT or above. I missed the boat on the Cobra though.
After I sold my red 97, I picked up a 04 Mach 1 with a blown engine. With twice as many valves, those 32 valve engines are expensive to repair! I have a problem....

Maybe you can get a 32v out of wrecked Mark VIII for less than a full rebuild......
I had a bright red / black top 1992 LX with the 2.3L that I was using for my 106 mile round trip daily commute. It got hit from behind that went all the way into the rear axle by a Grand Marquis doing 45 mph, when everyone was stopped . Shoved me into the back of an Econoline conversion van, damage front and rear with conside rable bend in chassis . I was pretty messed up in the crash, list of injuries was extensive, so I was out of work for 10+ months. Insurance company wouldn’t total it and spent nearly $8k to repair, for a car I paid less than $6k for. I sold it when it came back from the body shop.

Mark engines are too different from a Mach1. I would need an aviator motor.
That’s wild why they would not total that car with unibody damage from both ends. I guess this was before the wide spread throw away sentiment we have today. I bet it would have been totaled if it were a coupe or hatch with a damaged roof. Glad you made it out alive!

Passive voice was used, but congrats anyway.
